Will Stein returns for the fourth consecutive season as the Girl’s 17 National Head Coach and 7th season with the club. Will has also been the Girls' Program Coordinator, a position he held since being hired by club founder, Bob Arnette, in 2002. Will is also responsible for webpage design and maintenance for all of the girls’ teams in the program. Will started with Coastal Virginia Volleyball Club in 2002 as the Girls Program Coordinator as well as the Head Coach of the Girl’s 16’s Team, which he held until the start of the 2005 season. In 2005 it was decided that the club, due to expansion, needed more of a full time coordinator, so Will's coaching responsibilities were lessened as he served as the 15’s Assistant Coach. Three seasons ago, Will returned to Head Coaching at the helm of the 17’s team working with HIS former Green Run High School and Junior Olympic coach, Rob Hale. Stein’s volleyball career began in high school where he was considered one of the best setters in the state. During this four year stretch, Will was named to the Beach District, Eastern Region and All Tidewater 1st teams, as well as earning All Tournament honors at the Old Dominion Region Championships in 1996 and 1997 through his Junior Olympic play with TVA and Virginia Beach Volleyball Club under Coach Ken Shibuya (formerly with Coastal & currently Asst. Men's Coach at Stanford). A four year starting setter for the Virginia Tech Men’s Club Team, Will continued to lead his teams to great success. The team won the EIVA Southern Conference in 1998, 2000, and 2001, finished in the top five at the NIRSA Club Volleyball National Championships in 1998 and 2001, amassing an 89% win percentage over 5 years. With his leadership Will was awarded the honor of being named the Virginia Tech Sports Club Athlete of the Year in 2002. Will earned his degree in 2002, began working for Coastal Virginia Developers and helped as the Assistant Coach at Western Branch High School for the Boys’ Volleyball Team from 2002-2007. Will currently lives in Virginia Beach and continues to travel and play volleyball with a USAV-AA team based in Maryland. |
