Lindsey Spears begins her first official season as a volleyball coach, but has been around the game for quite awhile. Lindsey will serve as the 13’s assistant coach this season, under Head Coach, Peter Green. Lindsey began playing volleyball in Virginia Beach, VA, where she was trained as a middle hitter. She attended Ocean Lakes High School where she started as a middle hitter all four years and helped her team to a Beach District title her senior year. Also in her senior year she was picked for First Team All Beach District and Honorable Mention All Tidewater. In her junior year at Ocean Lakes High School, Lindsey decided to tryout for Coastal and was selected to the 17’s team for the 2005-2006 season. She immediately became an impact player on the team. In her senior year, Lindsey was selected for the Coastal 18N team as a right-side hitter. Lindsey helped her team to several championships that season including the Monument City Classic, Revolutionary Rumble, Omaha Invitational, Old Dominion Regional Championships, and South Atlantic Championships, as well as the Old Dominion Regional Qualifier, which allowed her team to compete in the USAV Junior National Championships in Minneapolis. Lindsey was also a major contributor in this team's win over the number one ranked team in the nation, Club Long Beach 18 National, at the Lone star Classic National Qualifier, where she was a solid blocker and hitter to help secure the win for her team. Lindsey continued her playing career at Catawba College where she started as a freshman right-side hitter. While at Catawba she was third on the team for blocking. Lindsey is now playing at Virginia Wesleyan College and is back to her roots as a starting middle hitter under Head Coach Andrea Hoover. |
