Girls 18 Gold Head Coach
Joel Schlabach

Joel Schlabach returns this year to CVVC as the Girls 16-1 Head Coach. This will be Joel’s third year with the club, and second as a head coach.

Joel is a graduate of McDowell High School where he played volleyball from 1996-2000. He was named second team all district in 2000 and he was chosen by his team mates and coaching staff as the team’s MVP in 2000. Joel was also a member of the Tool City Volleyball Club, which placed 16th at Nationals in 1999.

Coach Schlabach furthered his education at Penn State, where he was a member of the Penn State Volleyball Club from 2000 to 2004. He graduated with his Bachelor’s of Science in Secondary Education with a Minor in Social Studies. Joel then traveled to Trondheim, Norway where he was a member of the volleyball team, NTNUi Sportklubben.

Schlabach then became a volunteer assistant coach at McDowell High School from 2003-2005. He later became an assistant coach for the Varsity Boys team at Western Branch High School in 2005, helping win the Southeastern District Championship in 2006.

Starting his Coastal career as the girls 15's assistant coach in 2005, Joel also helped with the Coastal Summer Camp Series in 2006, and led the Coastal Girls 18 Gold team as the Head Coach in 2006.

Joel currently works at Western Branch High School as a Government and History teacher and lives in Chesapeake, Virginia.
