Club Director
Bob Arnette

Under the leadership of Director Bob Arnette since its inception in 1995, Coastal Virginia Volleyball Club has flourished from a two-team club to having seven teams including two boys’ teams. This growth is attributed to Bob’s commitment to the program, the philosophies he has instilled into the program, and the remarkable staff that has been with the club over the years.

Originally having created Coastal as an alternative place for his two daughters to learn and excel at volleyball in the Old Dominion Region, Bob’s vision for Coastal has grown from one of local dominance to nationwide recognition and respect. Since 2003, PrepVolleyball.com has annually ranked Coastal as one of the top 5 clubs in the Mid-Atlantic. With his sights set on #1 in the nation, Bob’s newest endeavor is to build Coastal’s very own facility in 2008!

Not just a director, Bob also has his hands in coaching at the high school level, being the Head Coach at Western Branch High School for the last 12 years. There he has compiled over 175 wins, while his teams have been annual contenders for the district and regional tournaments. In 2000, the Western Branch Bruins, under Coach Arnette’s direction, finished in 3rd place in the Virginia High School League State Championships.

In addition to his responsibilities as Coastal’s director, Bob is a successful businessman and family man. He is the President of Coastal Virginia Developers and the majority of the companies’ ongoing projects are in the Tidewater area. He has been married for 32 years to Ginny Arnette and has three children: Cathy, Beth, and David. Obviously affected by Bob’s zest for the sport of volleyball, all of Bob’s children have pursued volleyball in their adult lives. Cathy played at the University of Virginia and Villanova University as a setter, and later took an assistant coaching position at the University of Albany. Beth also was a setter, and played at Hofstra University leading her team to an America East Conference Championship and three second place finishes in the Colonial Athletic Association. Bob’s youngest, his son David, played as an outside hitter on James Madison University’s Volleyball Club A-Team for 4 years, who consistently placed top 15 in the nation.
